About this site

dl.id.au was created as a way to keep track of the Australian birds that I have photographed, and to try and help others identify Australian Birds by including photos of Male, Female & Young variations, as well as shots from different angles.
I will also use the site as a "scratchpad" for gathering things that interest me. I am reluctant to call anything a blog, as that implies that I would have to update it regularly, and I am far too lazy for that...

Update: June 2008 - I've decided to add Australian Mammals to the site. Although mammals are not the primary objective of my photography, they keep turning up when I am pursuing birds, so I might as well keep track of them.

Update: May 2010 - And now we have Australian Damselflies & Dragonflies and Australian Butterflies.

The Photo Gallery

I was unsatisfied with the generic photo gallery scripts available, so decided to write my own, with emphasis on keeping track of Orders, Families, and Species of selected Classes. The script is written in PHP and MySQL.
