Family Jacanidae (Jacanas)

Jacanas, sometimes referred to as Lotusbirds, form the family Jacanidae. They resemble rails, and are waders with extraordinarily long thin toes for running over floating freshwater plants such as waterlilies. Adults carry young under their wings.
